AUR20705 CERTIFICATE II IN AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICAL

RPL Assessment Information

Individuals who complete AUR20705 Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical will be able to obtain an Automotive Air Conditioning Licence (excluding Overhaul Air Conditioning System Components).

Should a Licence to overhaul air conditioning system components be required, completion of Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology including unit AUR422645A Overhaul Air Conditioning System Components unit will be necessary. (This unit is not part of the Certificate II criteria).

Qualification Requirements

To achieve Certificate II qualification individuals are required to competently complete 13 units at levels 2 or 3 as outlined in the following three (3) areas:

NOTE: A maximum of 2 units of competence may be at level 3.

1. Compulsory Units

The following units are compulsory:

AURC270103A – Apply Safe Working Practices.

AURT271781A – Implement and monitor environmental regulations in the automotive mechanical industry (applicable to mechanical repairers).

2. Technical Inventory

Eight (8) units of competency from the Technical Inventory are required.

3. Retail, Repair and Service

Three (3) units of competence from the Retail, Service and Repair unit or completion of any other endorsed training package relevant to industry is required.

Credit will be given for those individuals who have previously, competently completed relevant units which are consistent with the requirements of this qualification.

STEPS IN THE RPL PROCESS

Step 1 – Applicant to provide information on skills and experience

Information of experience in the Automotive Air conditioning industry is vital. Work history could include any of the following items:

* Any licences * Brief CV or Work History
* Certificates / Results of Assessments * Indentures / Trade Papers
* Tickets held eg: forklift, crane etc * Photographs of work undertaken
* Job sheets / Log books * Site Training Records
* Membership of Relevant Professional Associations * 3rd Party References – Letters from previous / current employers / supervisors
* Industry Awards * Any other documentation that may demonstrate industry experience

Information provided by 3rd party referees should be inclusive, pertinent and pertaining to the skills of the applicant and industry related so a precise decision can be made about the applicant’s competence level.

Step 2 – Conversation with Assessor

An assessor will need to review the information that has been provided so your skills can be match up to the units in the qualification. At this point, you and the assessor will discuss and identify previous experience to confirm capability and currency.

Step 3 – Practical Demonstration of Skills

An assessor will conduct a practical skills test at your workplace or at another suitable venue. This assessment test will be focused on skills required in the qualification.

Further Steps

After the assessment you will be provided with feedback about the skills that have been recognized and you have gained the full qualification. If there are skill gaps, these may be addressed through flexible training.
